Do them in the right order
Sealing first, then insulating, is the pattern that delivers the biggest comfort improvement. Adding insulation on top of unsealed bypasses leaves the leaks in place.
Where they show up in a home
Air sealing lives at top plates, penetrations, chimney chases, and attic hatches. Insulation covers the attic floor, crawlspace ceiling, and rim joists.
